Nowadays Tunde Onakoya is a well known figure around the globe. He has done a fantastic journey from the slums in Lagos to running a very successful non profit (Chess in Slums), giving simuls at Harvard and speaking at big UN events. Thus we are always happy to have him to participate in our events and of course we help our partner organization Chess in Slums out whenever we can.
Now Tunde has started a new career as chess sponsor!
At the Chess 2 Change Charity Tournament, Tunde was paired with Yvonne as her mentor, and it didn’t take long for him to recognize her potential.
“She’s wonderful, and I’ll do my best to help her reach her full potential,” he said.
After their match, Tunde committed to supporting Yvonne with a laptop and a chess coach to help her grow in the game she loves.
