Bronze for Elham at the World Junior

FM Matic Lavrencic (silver), GM Pranav V (gold) and GM Elham Amar (bronze)

The Norwegian 20 year old star Elham Amar from our extreme makeover program just won a bronze medal at The World Junior Chess Championships that was held in Petrovac in Montenegro. Elham had a very modest start with 2 out of 4 but managed to do an impressive comeback scoring 6,5 out of 7 in the last 7 rounds. He had the same points as the silver medalist Matic Lavrencic (8,5) but was edged out on tiebreak. The Indian Grandmaster Pranav V won another major World Championships title to India. Big congratulations to Elham and a big shoutout to his sponsor the Norwegian impact Investor FERD who helped us to make this possible. Elhams success shows what can happen if children from poor backgrounds just get a chance. Sky is the limit.

Who could think that this small boy on the left would grow up and become a Grandmaster and the third best junior in the world, well we did!
