
We are thrilled to announce the results of this year’s highly competitive Zero Requiem Charity Chess Tournament held in online on chess.com on the 16th February. With players from around the globe showcasing their incredible skills and strategic prowess, the tournament was a true celebration of chess.

Winner – CM Robert Mcligeyo (Kenya)
With a remarkable performance throughout the tournament, Robert clinched the top spot with an impressive score of 5.5/6. His tactical brilliance and endgame finesse were on full display, earning him the coveted title.

Runner Up – IM Saad Abobaker Elmi (Norway)
FM Saad dazzled us with his creative playing style and resilient play. Finishing strong with a score of 5.5/6 he demonstrated exceptional skill and determination.

Third Place – Mercy Ingado (Kenya)
Mercy’s improved openings and tactical abilities earned her third place with a strong score of 5/6. Big praise to her coach IM Hampus Sörensen who really has stepped up her game.

A massive thank you to everyone who has donated to the cause, to the commentators GM Pontus Carlsson, GM Maurice Ashley and WGM Jennifer Shahade who provided the 90 928 viewers with superb entertainment and to Ruben Harris who came up with the idea to host regular charity chess tournaments throughout the whole year. The next big charity event online will be a Chess 2 Change tournament in June, stay tuned for the date.
